Manish Gaur is a mental health professional and associate broker based in Boulder, Colorado. After spending two decades in the mental health industry, Manish has become a passionate advocate for those society has all but ignored. Currently, he is studying to earn his Master’s degree in Counseling. For Manish, counseling presents those a powerful opportunity to put words to their emotions—a skill that many do not learn given societal stigmas.

Manish got his start in the mental health industry while working with at-risk youth in New Mexico. While there, he helped kids who would have otherwise turned to gang initiation or drugs learn the skills they needed to create a thriving life for themselves. In time, Manish Gaur accepted a position working at an adult day program company in Santa Fe. Once again, he saw first hand how a whole group of people suffer due to a lack of opportunity and societal limitations.

Adults suffering from disabilities are often denied freedom and independence. Instead, their lives are dictated by others on a daily basis. However, these individuals have just as much passion and talent as anyone else. With that in mind, Manish began developing and implementing programs that would help the patients learn practical skills, effectively allowing them to live a more independent and fuller life.

Manish Gaur hopes to be an advocate for those suffering, whether from mental health disorders or life-altering disabilities. These groups of individuals, who make up a significant portion of our country, are often misunderstood and misrepresented. They are dogged by misconceptions and other’s opinions of what they are capable of doing.

For example, Manish has come to see that those who live off of disability would almost always work than receive another check. When given the proper skills and an opportunity to work, they would choose to do so. They truly want to help themselves, their families, friends, and community—it’s up to us to provide them the chance to do so.

After experiencing hardship himself, and seeing it through the eyes of others, Manish is now more dedicated than ever to helping people. He is now a graduate student, studying to earn a Master’s degree in Counseling. He hopes that through this next step in his career, he will be able to give people the voice they deserve.

Through a holistic approach and the use of talk therapy, behavioral therapy, shadow side, he wants to help people bring to light the patterns in life that trigger negative thoughts or experiences. It is Manish Gaur’s hope that he can help people in their journey to speak their truth and truly help those in need.
